Paul Dent brings entrepreneurial and executive experience to Heritage Capital Group, with a specialized focus on software, information technology, and cybersecurity. As the founder of Hirease, Inc. and interim CEO of Welltality, Paul has a strong track record of scaling service-based technology companies and navigating strategic transactions.
Earlier in his career, Paul held leadership roles at ADP, where he managed staffing and recruiting efforts for the National Accounts Division. Drawing on a legacy of computing innovation from his family’s business—Computer Power, once the world’s largest mortgage processing firm—Paul went on to build and lead Hirease, a North Carolina-based background screening company known for its client-focused service and internally developed proprietary platform. Under his leadership, the company processed over 100,000 daily transactions and was repeatedly recognized on the Inc. 500/5000 list and as one of North Carolina’s Best Places to Work. Paul successfully exited the business after selling.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Welltality Health and is a partner at Adobe Road Winery in Petaluma, CA. In addition to his business pursuits, Paul has served as an adjunct professor of Information Technology and Cybersecurity at Western Carolina University, where he mentors the next generation of tech professionals.
At Heritage, Paul advises clients in the software, IT, and cybersecurity sectors on mergers and acquisitions, capital strategies, and long-term growth planning.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Mercer University and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from Utica University.
