Heritage Capital Group is pleased to announce that John Montgomery has joined the firm as a principal. John’s broad experience in operations and management within the metals industry makes him a valued addition to Heritage’s growing metals industry team.
John joins Heritage with over 25 years of operational and business development experience in the metals industry. For most of his career, he served as executive vice president and COO of Southland Tube, based in Birmingham, AL. After Nucor acquired the business in 2017, John remained with the company as a general manager. John played a significant role in the negotiations and due diligence of the transaction. Since leaving Nucor in 2019, John has advised other metals companies, including Greenway Steel, providing bespoke consulting services in the metals industry. John earned his BBA in business administration and management from Auburn University as well as management and M&A certifications from Columbia Business School, Northwestern University, and Washington University in St Louis.
“I am very excited to be working with the team at Heritage,” commented John. “I led the sale of our family business to a Fortune 150 company, and can relate to business owners contemplating strategic options because I have been there and know their pain points. After successfully completing an exit and reengineering my life and career, I am now dedicated to helping business owners navigate the challenges of business, personal, and financial growth through mergers and acquisitions.”
“We are excited for John to join our metals industry team,” remarked Don Wiggins, president & CEO of Heritage. “His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand our business in this sector. His industry knowledge, experience, and track record of success will enable us to provide even better service and support to our clients.”
