Mr. Kohn brings a broad range of skills, knowledge, and multi-industry experience to help clients develop and execute plans for both internal performance optimization and organic growth, along with integrated value creation through mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. His key strengths include his ability to refine ideas into effective plans, and then turn plans into actions that positively impact both the top and bottom lines.
Mr. Kohn's experience covers a wide range of industries, product types and markets, including manufacturing, wholesale, retail, internet, business to business and business to consumer, and franchising in food processing, building materials, plastics, distributed power systems, internet services, publishing and printing, marine products, performance automotive, landscape and green goods, skin care, plumbing products, technology development, and systems integration.
Mr. Kohn has been a consultant to CEOs and business owners since 1995, helping them dramatically increase organization performance, delivering sales and profit increases of up to 300%, and doubling or tripling organization throughput capacities. He has worked with over 60 companies including several early and mid-stage entities, as well as companies generating $120 million to $2 billion in revenue. Mr. Kohn has been a key player in raising over $80 million in debt and equity financing.
As part of his consulting practice, Mr. Kohn has assumed multiple interim management roles including: Executive Vice President of Marketing & Sales at a company with $1 billion in sales, where he upgraded marketing and sales strategies and organization, and implemented a new business model; Senior Vice President/General Manager at a company with $400 million in sales, where he lead turnaround and upgrade efforts, especially in multi-channel integrated sales and distribution; Chief Operating Officer at an Internet start-up company, where he created the business plan, secured funding, and built the management team; and President at a company with $30 million in sales, where he oversaw merger integration and recapitalization.
Mr. Kohn was a founding partner in Aussie Imports US, Inc., a company importing specialty seafood products from Australia. He defined the branding, developed the marketing materials, set up operations, and led marketing and sales efforts that grew distribution to over 2,000 retailers in the United States.
Prior to his consulting career, Mr. Kohn successfully ran several businesses, including Hamilton Group, where sales tripled from $50 million to $150 million in 4 years, and profitability more than doubled.
Mr. Kohn has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Purdue University where he graduated with high honors, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago, majoring in Operations, Finance and International Business.
