James C. Wylie
Principal
James C. “Jim” Wylie joined Heritage Capital Group in January 2008. He has over 30 years of diversified experience in the investment banking and securities industries. His primary focus is on M&A transactions in the U.S. and abroad.
Over the course of his investment banking career, Mr. Wylie has been involved in a broad range of activities for clients ranging from Fortune 50 corporations to smaller closely-held companies and investor groups. He has raised several billions of dollars in the public and private capital markets for clients, and has been involved in M&A transactions totaling in excess of $10 billion, representing both sellers and acquirers. His experience spans a wide range of industries, and includes representation of both corporate and financial entities.
Prior to joining Heritage Capital, Mr. Wylie headed his own private advisory firm, which offered M&A services to privately-held companies, private equity groups, and accredited investors. He executed transactions in a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, business services, aerospace and defense, specialty retailing, broadcasting, and entertainment.
From 1976-1987, Mr. Wylie was a member of the investment banking department at Salomon Brothers in New York City. While at Salomon, Mr. Wylie’s primary responsibilities included: structuring, marketing and negotiating private placements on behalf of clients; client coverage of airline and transportation clients of Salomon Brothers, which included executing debt and equity offerings in both the public and private markets for clients such as American Airlines; and M&A advisory services, to include representation of buy-side and sell-side clients, LBO’s, recapitalizations, ESOP’s, and defense advisory engagements.
Mr. Wylie holds an AB in economics and an MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From 1969-1972, he was a first lieutenant in the United States Army.
